In November of 1998, the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury passed Property Standards By-law 98-065 to establish and enforce minimum standards for the maintenance of occupancy of all property with our Municipality.
This By-law covers such maintenance issues as:

Structural Stability Exterior Walls and Extensions Heating Systems Electrical Services Lighting Ventilation Garbage and Disposal Nuisance Unoccupied Property Underground Parking Garages Water Supply Kitchens Overcrowding General Cleanliness |

If you the property where you reside does not meet these requirements, you must submit a formal request for a Property Standards Officer to attend on site to conduct an inspection. That letter must include:
1. Statement giving the Property Standards Officer authority to enter your dwelling unit to conduct an inspection pursuant to the property standards by-law.
2. A list of the maintenance issues you feel do not comply with the by-law.
3. Copies of any correspondence and documentation to the property owner showing that you have taken measures to rectify the maintenance problems on your own.
4. Your name and telephone number and a time when you would be available for an inspection to be conducted.
5. The correspondence must be signed and dated.
Maintenance of Lands
In the case where there is a property in your neighbourhood where the grass in not being cut, noxious weeds are not eliminated or derelict /unlicensed vehicles are being stored on a permanent basis, you may forward the officer a Maintenance of Lands complaint, which does not require authority from the owner for the officer to attend on site.
