This is the most visited of all the graveyards in West Gwillimbury. It was part of the Wilson farm and burials have taken place there since 1839. Throughout time, three Churches have been erected and subsequently replaced on Wilson’s Hill but it has always remained the cemetery for the Essa congregation and many other residents. The last grave was that of the grandson of the founder of Essa Township and the first Essa Presbyterian Church, William McClain Dinwoody, in 1958.
